The present Speedmaster, with serial number #39.180.xxx, is a reference ST 145.022-74.
It is in very good condition, and all its parts are conform, included its stainless steel bracelet reference 1171/633 (as mentioned in the extract of archives from Omega).
Its dial is called Medium S – Flat Dial in the MOONWATCH ONLY book, a nickname referring to the shape of the capital S of Speedmaster and the fact that it has no step – the previous type was identical but with a step, typical of the 145.022-69s and 145.022-71s. Produced from 1975 to 1978, this dial is the correct version for this reference ST 145.022-74, and is in perfect condition.
Please note that the bezel is an optional Decimal one. It may be a recent version, but it is very rare and it gives a very unique touch to this watch, probably adding value comparing to a standard version.

The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is one of the most iconic wristwatches ever produced. Since 1965, it has been the choice of space programs for over half a century and has been associated with some of mankind’s greatest space adventures, earning it the name The Moonwatch.

The reference ST 145.022 is the successor of ST 145.012 and the first fitted with the caliber 861.
During the first years of production of the ST 145.022, the year of production was engraved inside the caseback: 68, 69, 71, 74, 76 and the last one 78, all made by the case maker Huguenin Frères SA.
The purpose of this document is to determine whether the constituent parts of the watch are conform to the model reference /period or not, and to value their condition and importance.
