OMEGA Speedmaster
105.003-63 “Asymmetrical Ts”

Sold

#20.526.xxx is a ST 105.003-63, the rarest reference of the 105.003s. It was produced in December 1964 and delivered in France.

The main particularity of this example lies in a detail of its dial: the Ts around SWISS MADE are not aligned with it, they are slightly larger and shifted to the right. These Ts were added between the initial dial printing and the assembly of the watch, just as these markings became mandatory. These rare dials are nicknamed “Asymmetrical Ts”.

This “Ed White” Speedmaster is in very good condition, with a nice patina of the dial indexes and the bezel. The case and its lugs are sharper than most 105.003s seen and its caseback has perfectly intact engravings. The bracelet is the famous vintage JB Champion, the one that astronauts used to put on their Speedmaster when not in spacesuits.

All its parts are conform, with the exception of the crown which is a recent service one.

About the Model

The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is one of the most iconic wristwatches ever produced. Since 1965, it has been the choice of space programs for over half a century and has been associated with some of mankind’s greatest space adventures, earning it the name The Moonwatch.

Naturally, beyond its professional use for more than sixty years, the Speedmaster, with its incredible history and its timeless design, has appealed to a much wider public throughout the world.

The reference ST 105.003 is one of the most, if not the most significant Speedmaster. Indeed, it was the only survivor of the extreme NASA tests in 1964/65 to select the watch that would be flight-qualified for all manned space missions. The reference ST 105.003 accompanied astronauts during all the Gemini missions.
