About the Model

The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is one of the most iconic wristwatches ever produced. Since 1965, it has been the choice of space programs for over half a century and has been associated with some of mankind’s greatest space adventures, earning it the name The Moonwatch.

Naturally, beyond its professional use for more than sixty years, the Speedmaster, with its incredible history and its timeless design, has appealed to a much wider public throughout the world.

The reference ST 105.012 is of major historical importance as it one the few Speedmaster references worn by astronauts on the Moon, notably by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11. Really the “First watch on the Moon”.

There are 4 different case sub-references, corresponding to the year of production of the case: 105.012-63 to 105.012-66. The four case sub-references were made by Huguenin Frères, but another case maker, “La Centrale Boîtes” (abbreviated CB), made more than 50% of the 105.012-66s. The case of this manufacturer is characterised by the tops of the lugs, which have a ledge along part of their length, followed by a small step. The present watch is such a 105.012-66 CB and was delivered to the US Army in November 1967.
