This watch is a perfect example of Omega Speedmaster Dark Side Of The Moon.
It is in perfect condition, full set with all its documents and accessories.
It was in 2013 that OMEGA introduced an innovative material for the design of its watchcases – ceramic. The first model fitted with such a case was named Dark Side Of The Moon (DSOTM), in tribute to the crew of the Apollo 8 mission who were the first to set eyes on the hidden side of the Moon.
This Speedmaster is thus a horological creation featuring a revolutionary technology, being fashioned from a single block of zirconium oxide ceramic.
The dial in black zirconium oxide ceramic matches the 44.25mm case in polished and brushed ceramic. The two chronograph pushers are also in polished ceramic. The OMEGA caliber 9300 co-axial
movement is the brand’s first proprietary chronograph movement.
The 12-hour and 60-minute counters of the chronograph can be found together at 3 o’clock. The text DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is engraved on the ceramic caseback above the sapphire-crystal glass that reveals the caliber 9300.
In 1848, Louis Brandt founded a company in La Chaux-de-Fonds which would become Omega. In the 1880s, the Louis Brandt & Fils company moved to its current site in Bienne and in 1894 the caliber Omega was created, which would give its name to the company. Renowned for its precise, innovative and affordable watches, it became the largest supplier of watches to the British Army during World War II. It also became the first company to time the Olympic Games in 1932. Among its range of numerous professional watches, the Speedmaster became the first watch worn on the moon in 1969.
