The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is one of the most iconic wristwatches ever produced. Since 1965, it has been the choice of space programs for over half a century and has been associated with some of mankind’s greatest space adventures, earning it the name The Moonwatch.
Naturally, beyond its professional use for more than sixty years, the Speedmaster, with its incredible history and its timeless design, has appealed to a much wider public throughout the world.
This special series is in honor of the first Speedmaster of 1957 and replicates its visual identity in the dial, hands and bezel – hence the name Replica.
Nevertheless, the caseband, the movement, the pushers, the crown and the bracelet are identical to those of the 1998 Speedmaster models.
The caseback bears the central Speedmaster medallion but without inscriptions around the edge. Unlike the version in the Missions valise set of 1997, the Replica is an unlimited and unnumbered series that was produced for four or five years, from 1998 to 2002/2003. Its PIC code is also different from the Valise model: 3594.50 instead of 3598.50.
