Reference 165.001 is an elegant automatic Seamaster from the early 1960s.
It is typically fitted with the caliber 552, an evolution of the caliber 501, featuring four additional jewels and a slimmer construction. This movement also powered the second generation of the Seamaster 300. For the U.S. market, where import duties were influenced by jewel count, Omega produced the caliber 550, a 17-jewel variant of the 552.
The reference was offered in stainless steel and yellow gold. Measuring around 34 mm, it is a refined dress watch with a central seconds display and no date, illustrating Omega’s balance of technical advancement and understated design during this period.
