Reference 2505 belongs to Omega’s well-known “Oversize” family of the late 1940s and early 1950s, notable for a large case of about 38 mm, which was unusually bold for the period.
It was fitted with caliber 261, a descendant of the 30T2 family. It is typically found in stainless steel, although other executions of the wider 2505 family also exist.
The reference features subsidiary seconds and was produced in a wide variety of dial styles, including sector and two-tone layouts. Its appeal lies in the combination of pre-war movement architecture with more modern oversize proportions.
Among early Omega dress watches, the 2505 stands out as one of the most important large-format references.
