Reference 2488 is an early, rare Omega reference from the late 1940s, known for a strong case design and high-grade manual-wind movements, either the caliber 30T2 or closely related early 30 mm movements.
Examples exist in steel as well as gold-filled or gold-toned executions. The reference normally uses subsidiary seconds and is sometimes described as a chronometer-grade or high-quality dress watch.
Compared with the Oversize family, the 2488 line is slightly smaller (36 mm) but remains substantial for its era. It is a useful illustration of Omega’s advanced pre- and post-war hand-wound production.
This stainless steel example, often referred to as a “sector dial”, features a silvered dial with printed elements, including the Omega logo and name, the minute track, and the primary hour numerals.
