About the Model

The name Étrier refers to the lug shape, and this model has its origin from the 1930’s ladies watches.

It was  part of Jaeger-LeCoultre standard collection. Different versions of the Étrier existed from the 1930’s and at least through the 1970’s – the model is illustrated in many catalogs of this period.

While many ladies models can be found on the market, the “Jumbo” version is much rarer. It features nice dimensions (28 x  23 mm for the case excluding crown and lugs, but 42 mm including them), and its style is unique.

In 1975, Jaeger-LeCoultre extended their reference number system to include both material and dial type (nnnn = model, .nn = metal and .nnn = dial type). For the reference 9041, one can find sub-references 9041.21.xxx for solid gold versions and 9041.42.xxx for stainless steel watches, with these sub-reference numbers engraved outside the caseback. Before this period, the reference number (9041) was engraved inside.

The crown is located at six, which makes the case very elegant. Another detail is that the lugs are not coming straight out from the case: they are angled, making them follow the wrist in a very comfortable way and giving the watch a very unique look.
