The extremely rare Disco Volante from the late 1960s / early 1970s offers all the attributes with which Cartier has Beene making watch and design history for well over 100 years.
This unusual model in solid yellow gold features a thin circular case, small lugs, a cabochon small winding crown and a very specific and aesthetic bezel. The engine turned dial recalls the motif of this bezel, with also small lines and black Roman and baton numerals.
The watch is fitted with an ETA-Peseaux caliber.
A very few examples have been observed (actually less than 5, in white or yellow gold). The watch has been illustrated in the Cartier book A Century of Cartier Wristwatches by George Gordon.
