About the Model

Born in 1968 as the second and last line produced by Daini Seikosha for Grand Seiko, the 45GS is still today the only manual-winding men’s watch at 36’000 beat per hour in the Grand Seiko history.

Like its predecessor 44GS, the design of this model faithfully respects the stylistic features of the famous Grammar Of Design, distinctive elements that will permanently mark the Grand Seiko Style.

Three calibers supplied on this line, the 4520A (time only), the 4522A (date at three o’clock with quick release), and the 4580 V.F.A. (Very Fine Adjusted).

The 4520/22 series was declined in 4 case variants:

  • the 7000, a cuschion shape characterized by very angular contours, edges and corners and alternating glossy and satin surfaces,
  • the 7010, characterized by a softer and oval shape with a satin finishing,
  • the 8000, typically adhering to the Grammar of Design,
  • and finally the 8010, cushion shape in 18K gold with a ’’texture’’ finishing.

Both the 4520 and 4522 calibers were born from the experiences of Daini in Swiss chronometric competitions and made it possible to achieve a higher level of precision with a Seiko ” AA ” adjustment standard of -3 / + 5 seconds per day.
