APPRAISAL BOOK

This Speedmaster is a rare example of the Apollo XI 25th Anniversary limited series for the Italian market.

It is the number 998 out of 999 pieces, as engraved on the side on the caseband.

The watch is in very good condition, 100% original, but what makes it extremely interesting is the complete full set, with all the accessories and documents delivered with the watch in 1994.

Such a set is extremely difficult to find nowadays. It represents a unique opportunity for any Speedmaster enthusiast willing to complete his collection with a special model with its original set.

About the model

There are four different series that mark the 25th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission:

• a numbered series of 2’500 conventional models in steel,
• a numbered series of 999 in steel with display backs for the Italian market,
• a numbered series of 500 in white gold,
• a numbered series of 50 skeleton watches in platinum.

The series of conventional watches differs from the standard ST 145.0022 models only by the inscription on the caseband, APOLLO XI 1969-1994, its number on the bevel of the caseback and its special box.

The series in white gold is identified by its rhodium-plated caliber 864, chronometer-certified movement, a silver-gray dial with the added inscription of CHRONOMETER, APOLLO XI 1969-1994 engraved on the side of the caseband, and a book-format box in light-brown leather.

The series for the Italian market is fitted with the caliber 863 movement and a sapphire-crystal display back. Also in the set is a special box with 25th ANNIVERSARY OF MOON LANDING printed on beige velvet.

The box contains a silver commemorative medal bearing the same individual number as the watch, but the total number shown on the medal is xxx/2’000 instead of xxx/999, because 1’001 extra medals were sold without the watch. There is also a commemorative leaflet in Italian.
