The present Speedmaster, with serial number #31.323.xxx, is a reference ST 145.022-71.

It is in very good condition, and all its parts are conform, included its stainless steel bracelet reference 1171/633 (please note that the endlinks are probably recent service ones, with correct reference 633, which doesn’t affect nor the value nor the aesthetics of the bracelet).

Its dial is called “Medium S – Step Dial” in the MOONWATCH ONLY book, a nickname referring to the shape of the capital S of Speedmaster and the fact that it has a step, typical of the 145.022-69s and 145.022-71s. Produced from 1969 to 1974, this dial is the correct version for this reference ST 145.022-71, and is in perfect condition.

The bezel is a “DNN” one, correct for this reference.

About the model

The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is one of the most iconic wristwatches ever produced. Since 1965, it has been the choice of space programs for over half a century and has been associated with some of mankind’s greatest space adventures, earning it the name The Moonwatch.

Naturally, beyond its professional use for more than sixty years, the Speedmaster, with its incredible history and its timeless design, has appealed to a much wider public throughout the world.
The reference ST 145.022 is the successor of ST 145.012 and the first fitted with the caliber 861.

During the first years of production of the ST 145.022, the year of manufacture was engraved inside the caseback: 68, 69, 71, 74, 76 and the last one 78, all made by the case maker Huguenin Frères SA.
