About the model
The style of this Seamaster Chronostop model, created in 1966 and transferred to the Geneva collection in 1967, was extremely innovative when it was marketed.
The shape of its case (water-resistant to 30m), with fixed or rotating internal bezel, its anthracite gray dial with white minute track, its white hour/minute hands and its orange central second hand make it immediately recognizable.
The Chronostops were equipped with caliber 865, derived from the famous caliber 861, whose functions are as follows:
- pusher at 2 o’clock for the start,
- same pusher for stopping (pressure to be maintained for time reading and reset by releasing the pressure).
The Seamaster Chronostop could be equipped either with a fixed internal bezel (reference ST 145.007, with pulsometer, telemeter, tachometer or decimal scale), or a rotating one (reference ST 145.008). In that case, the crown located at 10 o’clock sets the internal bezel.
