The Omega Seamaster reference 166.042 is a vintage automatic wristwatch produced in the late 1960s to early 1970s. It features a distinctive stainless steel case with a square “TV-shaped” design, reflecting the bold aesthetic of the era. The watch is powered by the reliable Omega caliber 565 automatic movement, equipped with a date function.
The dial is typically minimalist and elegant, often found in silver or blue tones, with applied hour markers and slim hands that enhance its refined look. Protected by an acrylic crystal, the watch maintains its period-correct charm.
With its unusual case shape and classic Seamaster heritage, the reference 166.042 stands out as a unique and collectible timepiece, appreciated by enthusiasts for both its design and mechanical quality.
In 1848, Louis Brandt founded a company in La Chaux-de-Fonds which would become Omega. In the 1880s, the Louis Brandt & Fils company moved to its current site in Bienne and in 1894 the caliber Omega was created, which would give its name to the company. Renowned for its precise, innovative and affordable watches, it became the largest supplier of watches to the British Army during World War II. It also became the first company to time the Olympic Games in 1932. Among its range of numerous professional watches, the Speedmaster became the first watch worn on the moon in 1969.
