The methodology of the rating process comprises two separate scores underpinned by a proprietary algorithm. The first score, the Watch Score, is based on a detailed and individual analysis of the components of the watch, while the second, the Extra Score, evaluates particular configurations.
The first part of the appraisal process is based on a rigorous methodology and particularly on a detailed and individual analysis of the watch’s main constituent parts: caliber dial, hands, bezel, case, caseback, crown and pushers, glass, bracelet. These constituent parts are analysed, evaluated and weighted according to three criteria:
From our point of view, the Watch Score is not sufficient to fully classify a collectors’ watch in the eyes of its owner or future buyer. Thanks to our experience of the collectors’ watch market, we have identified a number of other factors capable of significantly impacting the overall evaluation of the object (positive: special or optional component, original documents, particular origin, emotional impact…; negative: certain key elements may represent a critical problem if they are absent…).
The two previous phases of analysis enable us to determine an overall rating – the WATCHFID Rating – for each watch analysed. The WATCHFID Rating may exceed 10, as it takes into account the Extra Score.
